GIVE YOUR ZAKAT
“And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah.” (2:110, Qur’an)
WHAT IS ZAKAT?
Zakat is a religious duty for all Muslims who meet the necessary criteria of wealth to help the needy. It is a mandatory charitable contribution.
The word Zakat means both ‘purification’ and ‘growth’. Our possessions are purified by setting aside a proportion for those in need. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that paying zakat purifies, increases and blesses the remainder of one’s wealth.
Zakat is also a spiritual connection to one’s creator – to purify your wealth for the will of Allah is to acknowledge that everything we own belongs to Him, and it is for Him that we strive to end poverty.
ZAKAT AMOUNT
The amount of zakat to be paid by an individual depends on the amount of money and the type of assets the individual possesses. The amount of zakat paid on capital assets is 2.5%.

Your Zakat will help some of our poorest communities to be able to create sustainable economies. Our hope is that one day they will be able to give zakat, rather than receive it.
